Central Africa

Central Africa is a region of Africa. AngolaFormer Portuguese colony which went through a brutal civil war. Now largely safe, but has been surprisingly slow to appear on the tourist radar CameroonSometimes referred to as Africa in Miniature, the terrain includes rain forest, desert plains, mountains and high plateau.

Kinshasa is the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It faces Brazzaville, the capital of the neighbouring Republic of the Congo, which can be seen in the distance across the wide Congo River.

South Sudan is a country in Central Africa. Formerly a breakaway region of Sudan, it became an independent country on 9 July 2011 after a referendum was held in January that year.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is the largest and most populous country in Central Africa.

Equatorial Guinea is a small country in West Africa, divided into two parts, the mainland and the islands.

Cameroon is in Central Africa. It borders Nigeria to the west, Chad to the northeast, the Central African Republic to the east and Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and the Republic of the Congo to the south.

Angola, a country in Central Africa, is bordered by Namibia in the south, Zambia in the east and the Republic of Congo, as well as the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the north.

The Republic of the Congo is in Central Africa. The country is also known as Congo-Brazzaville to distinguish it from its giant eastern neighbour, the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The Central African Republic is at the geographic center of Africa, bordered by Cameroon to the west, Chad to the north, Sudan and South Sudan to the east, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Republic of the Congo to the south.

Luanda, the capital of Angola, is on the Atlantic coast. Its current renaissance is a truly inspiring success story.

São Tomé and Príncipe is a small island nation off the Atlantic coast of Central Africa, located in the Gulf of Guinea, straddling the Equator, west of Gabon.

Brazzaville is the capital of the Republic of Congo. Brazzaville was a relatively well-developed and thriving city before the civil war began in 1997.

Gabon is a country in Western Central Africa. It lies on the Equator, on the Atlantic Ocean coast, between the Republic of the Congo to the south and east, Equatorial Guinea to the northwest and Cameroon to the north.
