Northeast China

North East China. In ancient times, this was an area of steppes and fierce nomadic tribes, outside the Great Wall built to protect China from those tribes. In 1644, the Manchus from this region crossed the wall, conquered China, and founded the Qing Dynasty which lasted until 1911.
Dalian is the second largest city in Liaoning Province, Dongbei, China and the largest port in northern China as well as a major destination for Chinese tourists.
Heilongjiang Province is in the far northeast of China. The province is famous for its fierce winters, snow and ice festivals and Russian influence.
