Montevideo is the pleasant capital city of Uruguay. It is on the east bank of the Rio de la Plata.

Colonia is in the Rio de la Plata region of Uruguay. It is filled with old colonial buildings and cobbled streets, and is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.


Mercedes is the capital of the department of Soriano, Uruguay, located at the north of the department, on the south bank of Rio Negro.

Fray Bentos is in the Río Negro department of Uruguay, at the border to Argentina.

Colonia Suiza or Nueva Helvecia is a city in Uruguay. Situated around 60km southeast of Colonia del Sacramento, this little town looks a bit like Switzerland transplanted to South America.
