Outback Queensland is the inner west desert expanse of Queensland. There are no major population centres in this part of Australia. Queenland's main population centres are on the coast, and the arid western part is very sparsely populated.

Mount Isa is a mining city in the north-west of the Australian state of Queensland, situated some 900 km west of Townsville and some 1900 km north-west of the capital Brisbane.
Charleville is a town in South Western Queensland. It is part of Murweh Shire.
Winton is a town in Outback Queensland between Longreach and Mount Isa Winton is a very small outback town in Central Queensland that, despite its small size on the map these days, has a rich history.

Eulo is a small town in South Western Queensland. The town centre is a few kilometres from the Paroo River, and it is the second largest town in Paroo Shire after Cunnamulla.

Hungerford is a town in south western Queensland. It is very much on the trail of Henry Lawson, who wrote about the town.
Cloncurry is a town in Outback Queensland. The copper mines of Cloncurry quickly made this town one of the most prosperous in the Outback.
Cunnamulla is a town of 1,500 people in south-western Queensland.
Cooladdi is a ghost town in southwest Australia. Once a busy rail town with 270 people, today all that remain are four residents, three buildings and the grave of a small child.
Blackall is an Australian village of about 1200 people in Central West Queensland, about 960 km from Brisbane.
Boodjamulla National Park is in Outback Queensland, in the westernmost part of the state.
